Marked

I have recently read the book Marked by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast. This story is about vampyres, and I decided on this book because the cover lured me in!

The main character in this story is Zoey Redbird, just a normal teenage girl in highschool, until the day her life was changed comepletely! Zoey was "Marked" in school one day, which means that she would become a fledgling vampyre that would train at the House of Night to become an adult vampyre. Zoey isn't just any old fledgling though, she soon discovers, she has a special Mark that will define her as "different" forever... Then Zoey realizes that she is going to have trouble there because she clashes with one of the Dark Daughters(a fledgling vampyre that is popular and special too). Aphrodite claims that things always go her way, and that Zoey better watch out if she tries to mess with that! She is invited to attend one of the Dark Daughters' meetings, and discovers that Aphrodite is bad news, Zoey then finds that she is special, and with the help of her new friends, she figures out that she is the only vampyre in history to have an affinity(natural talent and connection) for all five elements, Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Spirit! Zoey makes a plan to take down Aphrodite, and live up to her full ability which is to be a High Priestess! Now Zoey must rise to the occasion she was created for to show her true strength and power!

What I liked about this book was that it kept me hooked from the very beginning. This was an awesome read, and always had me guessing! There isn't one thing I didn't like about it, and yes I would definitely recommend his book to a friend if they liked to read about vampyres and mysteries. I would say this could be read by the ages 13 and up because some parts in the book, and it might be hard to follow along. I also had to inference a lot with this story because it had a very confusing plot, but that's another thing I loved about the book! Overall, it was an AWESOME read!!!
The title of this book is Ranger's Apprentice :The Lost Stories.  The author of this book is John Flanagon.  This book includes all of the  missing parts from the earlier series.  I chose this book because I have read ELEVEN other books by him.

In this book, there are nine different stories, about Will, who was the main character in the Ranger's Apprentice series.  It would be very hard to summarize the entire book, without giving away key information that concludes each book in the series.  But, there is one story in the book that I will summmarize with out giving away too much information.

In this story, Will loses his horse, who is his old friend, to a wolf attack, where the wolf bites into the muscle and makes it so that Tug, his horse, will never be able to run without a limp again.  They have a breeding system, which makes a direct blood line from its ancestors, so that the ranger can have a horse which is mostly the same as the horse they already had.

One thing that I liked about this book is that there was more to the series.  Another thing that I liked about this book is that it answered many questions that I had pertaining to the series.  One thing I didn't really like is that this really ended the series.  I would highly recommend this book to people in middle school and people who like the Hunger Games series and Percy Jackson series. All done.

Diary Of A Wimpy Kid Rodrick Roles

The characters in this book are Greg, Rodrick , Mom, Dad, Rowly, and Manny. I like this book because it has lots of funny little jokes in it. I like this book also because it tells you what Greg does everyday.Greg and his brother Rodrick have lots of arguments in the book like one time Rodrick and Greg throw a party when there parents are gone and Rodrick locks Greg in the basement. Then the parents have to come home because the little brother Manny is sick. So if you want to find out happens to the boys you will have to read the book to find out.
My Favorite part of the book is what happens to the boys when the parents get home. You should really read this book because if you dont like reading long books this is a book for you.

MockingJay

I read MockingJay by Suzanne Collins, this is the last book in the Hunger Games trilogy. In this book Katniss must decide if she wants to be the face of the rebellion against the capitol and how to handle the immense pressure. I choose this book because I had read the first two books and I wanted to see how it all ended.
Katniss wanted to bring down the capitol but is afraid of the consequences if they lose the rebellion. After being taking out of the arena of the Quarter Quell. Katniss is faced with the decision of whether or not she wants to be the Mockingjay. Meaning if she wants to be the rebels inspiration during the rebellion against the capitol. However, Peeta was not rescued when Katnss was instead he was brought to the capitol and is tortured. So Katniss agrees to be the MockingJay for her father, for Peeta, and all other tributes of the Hunger Games.
I liked how Katniss always puts other people before her self and fights for what she believes. I also liked the how the Hunger Games trilogy ended. I didn't like how sad this book was and of all the deaths involved. I think this book is appropriate for people over the age of 10. I would recommend this book to anybody because of its wide range of genres.

Rat Life

This book Rat Life was written by Tedd Arnold. This book's genre is mystery/fiction. I chose this book because I like to read mysterey books. Also the title of the book got my attention.
In this book Todd Anthony meets a guy named Rat. Rat offeres Todd a job at the drive in. Todd looking to make more money accepts. As Todd spends more time with Rat he becomes more interested in Rat's life. Throughout the book Todd pieces together Rat's life, until it leads him to the dead body the police pulled out of the Chemanga River.
In this book Iliked how Todd and Rat become friends. Also I liked how Todd pieces together Rat's Life and solves the mystery. One thing I didn't like about this book was when a puppy dies. This book is appropriate for people ages 11-14 who like mysteries.

Soul Surfer

The book I read was Soul Surfer a true story by Bethany Hamilton herself. Bethany also had two coauthors Sheryl Berk and Rick Bundschuh. The book is about a girl named Bethany and how she faced many troubles while trying to surf with only one arm. Bethany had to learn to surf with only one arm after she had been attacked by a shark while surfing with family friends.

Bethany Hamilton was your average teenager living in Hawaii and pursuing her happiness for surfing until one day something tragic happened. Bethany wanted to be a professional surfer so she got home school just like her brothers so she could train more for surfing competitions. Then one day while she was out surfing in Kauai, Hawaii with family friends she was attacked by a shark. Bethany was very brave and fought through the pain, trying to get herself back to shore with her other arm. Once Bethany healed from the shark attack and the surgeries that followed Bethany wanted to go back to surfing. So Bethany's father made some modifications to her board and she started training again as if she had never surfed before.

Two things I liked about the book were that it was a true story and that Bethany didn't give up on her dreams. I absolutely loved the book and there was nothing that I didn't like. I would recommend this to my friends, anyone from 5th grade and up, and also to people who love true stories.

Catching Fire

I read Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins, the second book in the Hunger Games trilogy. This book is about Katniss's having to be a tribute in the Hunger Games for a second time. I chose this book because I wanted to see what happened after the first book, The Hunger Games.
Katniss wanted to stop the lies that her an Peeta were madly in love with each other and go back to her life before the Games, but that wasn't going to happen when she received an unexpected visit from President Snow. Katniss had caused uprisings in most of the Districts due to her behavior in the previous Games and Snow was not buying that Peeta and Katniss were actually in love with each other. So the choice was made her and Peeta will have to get married in order for Snow not to execute Katniss or her family. Now the only problem is Peeta and Katniss are being thrown in the arena once agian.
I liked how there are so many unexpected turns. I also like how Katniss never gave up. There wasn't really anything I didn't like about this book. I think this book is appropriate for people over the age of 10. I think anybody could enjoy this book because of its wide range of genres.

The Hunger Games

I read The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, the first book in the Hunger Games trilogy. This book is about the troubles one girl must face when she is one of the tributes in the Hunger Games. I choose this book because a lot of people recommended it to me.
Katniss Everdeen wanted to protect her sister, Prim with all it took, but she never expected that would mean throwing herself into the Hunger Games. After Prim was chosen to be one of the tributes from District 12 to be entered in the Games, Katniss volunteered to take her place. Now she has to make it out of the arena alive so she can return to her sister and her mother. And she will do this in whatever means necessary, including pretending to fall in love with the other tribute from District 12.
I liked the suspense in this book, and the unexpected turns. I also liked how determined Katniss was to make it back to her family alive. I didn't like how sad the book was at times. I think this book would be appropriate for people older that 10 years old. I also think really anybody could enjoy it because the book has so many different genres and just the fact that was a really good book.

Halo

I read Halo by Alexandra Adornetto. This book is the story of an angel and a human who fall in love. I choose this book because one of my friends recommended it to me.
Bethany along with her brother and sister were sent to Earth from Heaven with a mission, to help rid the world of darkness. Bethany ends up falling in love with a human, Xavier Woods. She wants to stay and live the rest of her life with him, but can not because as soon as they have completed their mission the angels must return to heaven. So instead of staying away from Xavier to spare him the heartbreak she falls deeper in love for him.
I liked that I had a hard time putting this book down. I also liked how real the author is about certain situations. For example, the troubles teenage girls face in high school. I think this book is appropriate for people, mainly girls, 12 and up. I think anybody who likes to watch chick flicks would love to read this book.

Matched

I finished a great book called "Matched" by Ally Condie. It is mostly a realistic fiction book. I chose this book because it was recommended to me by a teacher. Also a lot of my friends were reading it and said it is a great book.
Cassia (main character) is stuck in a society where everything is a choice the Officials make. The citizens have no affect on the Officials and are not able to change their mind. If the citizens ever try to change anything all they get is a punishment. Cassia, tries to change her life and her future. But, of course the Officials basically rule the society. So, once she gets caught, not only does she get the punishment but also so does her friend that she likes. His name is Ky. She goes along the way trying to survive, hold the secrets, and hold the fear. What she is not realizing is that it is hurting her Match named Xander.
Two things that I liked about the book is that it had a bit romance in it when Cassia was kissing with Xander and Ky. I also liked that it is a book where i can relate it to a persons life where they couldn't control it. The book was easy to understand so i would recommend it to age group 10 or older. A reading level would be 5/10. I would recommend this to anyone who likes reading.

A Child Called "It"

A Child Called "It" was written by David Pelzer. This is a non-fiction story about one child's courage to survive. This was recommended to me by a friend who said it was a true story and it really helped you be thankful for what you have.
David ("it") wants to be loved. He wants to be cradled in his mothers arms. But most of all he wants to be David again. But he is beaten and starved by his alcoholic mom. So he learns how to play his mothers games in order to survive. He is burned and fed ammonia and even stabbed, but he never tells any one.
I loved that this story was so true and unforgettable. It also makes you realize how lucky you are. I didn't like how in detail the book was, and how mean the mom was. I would say this book is appropriate for kids ages 13 and up. If have read and liked Chicken Soup for the Soul.

Catching Fire

"Catching Fire" by Suzanne Collins is an amazing book. It is a fiction book. I chose this book because in my english class we read the first book, "Hunger Games" and I really liked to know what would happen next.
In Catching Fire Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark were winners of the 74th Hunger Games. For the quarter quell 2 victors from each district have to go in the games again. Peeta and Katniss train by getting into shape, knowing Haymitch will not survive in the Games. In the 75th Hunger Games, more rebellion would happen that Katniss and Peetas stunt in the first games...
I liked everything about this book. I would recomend it to anyone that likes surprises and action stories. I could not get enough of the book. There was nothing wrong in the book, but that might be becasue im a really nig fan! (:

I read the book A Stolen Life by Jaycee Dugard. This book is about a young girl named Jaycee. She was kidnapped at the age of eleven(in fifth grade), and kept under captive for eighteen years! I chose to read this book because I had watched a story about it on TV, and I just had to read it!

It was just any old regular morning with her step-dad Carl, and her sleeping baby sister in her room, until she was snatched by a husband and a wife on her way to school. They stun gunned her, and drove away for two hours to their home where the husband, Phillip Garrido would sexually abuse Jaycee for eighteen years. During that time Jaycee got pregnant twice, she had one baby at the age of 14, and one at the age of 17. She said after having the babies that "I wasn't so alone anymore. I had somebody that was mine." While trying to balance her weight after the babies by exercising, and taking care of the many stray cats that came around, Jaycee had two little girls to take care of! She was their teacher, and learned all of her parenting skills from the TV set, and the computer she was allowed to use. Jaycee desperately wanted her mom for those eighteen years, and stared up at the sky to look at the moon because her and her mom would always talk about the moon together!

After what seems like a lifetime of waiting to be discovered, and being stripped of her identity to the point where she was forced to pick a new name. For eighteen years she was called Alyssa and wasn't able to write or say her real name...but then, the unthinkable happens...

I liked many things about this book. One thing I liked was that it always kept me hooked! I read all day once, and I couldn't stop! I also liked that it was a true story because it opened my eyes to be very thankful for everything I have! The only thing that i didn't like about this book was that it was sometimes in too much detail... I think this book should be read by 13 and up because of the graphics. I would definitely recommend this to a friend too because I think this is a great and inspirational story about making the best out of an impossible situation, just like Jaycee did for eighteen long years!

Willow

"Willow" by Julian Hoban is about a girl going through the guilt of her parents death. Willow is convinced that because she was driving, she killed her parents. It is a realistic book and I chose to read it because I'm interested in realistic fiction books.
Willow Randall believes she killed her parents in a car crash, and that her brother hates her for it. To help herself not feel grief and sorrow she cuts herself. While living with her brother she meets a boy named Guy. He finds out about her cutting and tries to help her through it. Their relationship develops and they start dating, Willow also tries to stop cutting.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes realistic fiction or the struggle through depression. I liked how much Willow describes why she cuts and why she thinks she cant feel anything. Also I like how much Guy cares about Willow from the start. He doesn't like her "like that" in the beginning but you can tell he cares enough to help her, I didn't like how Willow thought everyone believed she was the murderer of her parents, because she wasn't. Other that it was one of the best books I read.

Enclave

Enclave by Ann Aguirre is a very suspenseful book. This is a fantasy book where the world is no longer a safe place to live so many groups go under ground into very structured caves. I chose to read this book because my school librarian recommended it to me.

In this book Duece wants to become a Huntress. The only way she can do this is to survive her first 15years a a brat. She can become one of 3 groups a Breeder, a Builder, or a Hunter. She wants to protect her enclave and provide food for the brats. The only thing standing in her way is the Freaks. These are creatures who evolve and get smarter over time. So in the event that her best friend is accused of hoarding she and her partner Fade get banished in his place. Banished to Topside. The world unknown where you are lucky to survive one night.

I loved how this book was so suspenseful. I also loved how this book had mystery and romance. This book is appropriate for ages 12-21. If you liked the Hunger Games you will love this book.

Eleven; Thomas K

The book eleven is a realistic fiction book that takes place in present time. this book is also a mystery book. There were many exciting parts of this book that made this a page turner that I could not put down.

This book is about a boy named Sam who is 11 years old. Sam turned 11 on April 11th. Sam always has dreams of his child hood and the number 11 always seems to find its way into those dreams in a way. Sam can never remember his dream by the time he wakes up.One day
Sam finds a box up in the attic containing his child information. There is only 1 problem Sam is dislexyic and can not read. Sam makes friends with a girl named caroline and asks her to read the papers for her.

This book is very good. I would recommend this book to anyone that has the time to read it.
I would rate this book a 7 out of 10
