The Scorch Trials

The Scorch Trials, by James Dashner, is the second in The Maze Runner series.  The novel picks up right where we left off with Thomas and Theresa being transferred to a new location by their “rescuers.”  Dashner does not disappoint in his follow up novel as Thomas and his friends try to figure out who WICKED is and what exactly they have in store for them.

The Glade survivors are now faced with a new challenge – crossing the Scorch to get to the “safe haven” or dying of the Flare – a disease that has devastated the planet, infecting and killing thousands.  While the Glade survivors still don’t know whether they can trust WICKED, they don’t appear to have any other options.

It is hard to give much plot summary without giving away what happens in the first book, but trust me when I say this is a MUST READ.  I loved the twists and turns and detail that Dashner again included in the plot. The characters are so rich and so personable. I really felt like they were my friends and I was making the trek across the hot, barren desert with them.  The only thing I did not like about this book is the fact that the 3^rd book is still in writing. I’m hoping it’s not another year before it comes out! Thomas’ life can’t hang in limbo that long!! I vote we start a petition for James Dashner to write faster!! J
