(YOU WON'T UNDERSTAND THIS UNLESS YOU HAVE READ THE FIRST BOOK OF THE UGLIES SERIES).
I read the book PRETTIES by Scott Westerfeld. This book is about a girl who finally gets what she had wanted all along but learns to remember why she is the way she is. I chose this book because it is the second book of the UGLIES series and i just HADDD to see what happened next.
Tally Youngblood is now pretty! She is now living the life of partying, getting drunk, and just having nothing but pure fun 24/7. She goes to this party that all "New Pretties" must go to once they are finished with the operation, but sees that someone is following her dressed in a "Special Circumstances" costume. She finds out that it is one of her old friends from her ugly days from the Smoke, who came to tell her about a special item he has for her and to remind her about her past. But he doesn't just give her the item, she must go through all this trouble to get it with her new "Crim" friend, Zane. (A "Crim" is someone who created a fantastic crime back in the day and gets popularity for it.) Eventually, Zane and Tally get ahold of the item, and find that it isn't any ordinary gift. It is the "cure" for being Pretty, and Tally decides that she's not going to take the pills alone. Tally now has to get away from her new Luxurious life and be free from all the stress that goes on with her friend Shay, and the constant offers that Special Circumstances keep putting on her. In the end, Tally realizes that being pretty is far from anything she imagined, and that trying to get away may not be so easy.
I enjoyed this book a lot. However, I liked the first book, UGLIES, way better. Two things I liked about this book was that in some parts it turned out to be really weird, and that it mixes the past and future really well. Two things I didn't like was that some parts were hard to follow and that it just dissappoints you at the end! I would deffinately recommend this book to a friend and to anyone in their teens or older. I think more girls would like this book, though. :)
