Antarctica Escape from Disaster

The book I choose was Antarctica Escape from Disaster, by Peter Lerangis. This book is a part of an Historical Fiction, and Adventure series. I chose this book because when i started reading it the first couple pages really intrigued me.

This book was about a secret American expedition to dicover the South Pole. Jack Winslow, the expedition leader, his 17 year old son Colin, and his 16 year old stepson Andrew. Once they got to Antarctica their ship, the Mystery, was trapped in ice, and then eventually sank from a hole from an iceberg. The crew went through the ultomate test of loyalty, endurance, and survival. Once the men got to the sea they set off in 4 teams in 4 lifeboats hoping to find a friend of Jack's who is suppossed to be on a voyage to Antarctica around that time. The harsh conditions damaged all the boats which split up the teams into two groups of two. All teams were forced to set ashore due to damage. Then in desperate hope of finding a ship Jack, his son Colin, and another crew ember named Philip Westfall, the nephew of the expedition's sponsor. They find a whaling ship of a shelfish captain named Captain Coffin. Once he finally agrees to search for the rest of Jack's team Jack and Andrew start looking right away. The two things I liked were it had a lot of action in it and that it actually happened. The only thing I disliked about the book was it had a lot of words about ships that I didn't really know or understand. The age group appropriate for this book is 8th-10th graders. The people who would like this book are people who like expeditions and disaster. I would recommend this to friend as well.
