The Son of Neptune

I read the book, "The son of Neptune", by Rick Riordan.  The genre of this book is a modern day fantasy intertwined with Greek and Roman mythology.  I chose this book because I have read all of the other books written by this author.

Percy Jackson, the main character, is from the Greek half-blood camp.  He had his memory erased by Hera/Juno and put in the Roman half-blood camp.  Gaea is awakening and with her her giants that were created to defeat the Gods.  Percy Jackson must face his memory loss and defeat the marching forces of monsters directed by the giant Polybotes.  Percy Jackson and his two friends, who are both half-bloods, must go on a quest to defeat the giant Alcyoneus and free the god of death.  Percy must travel to Alaska from the western United States to defeat the giant.  On the way there, they recruit the Amazon warriors.

Two things I likes about this book are that it has many fights and alot of action.  I also liked the way the book incorporates ancient Greek and Roman mythology.  The age level for this book would be middle school and up.  I would highly recommend this book.  It would be a great read for people who like action fantasy.

Eon

Eon written by Allison Goodman was a unbelievably good book. This book was chock full of mystery and action. This books many twists and turns are what made it a good one. I chose to read this book because my school librarian recommended it to me, and it looked very good.
In this book Eon wanted to be the Dragon Eye apprentice, and after that to destroy Lord Ido and warrior Sethon. But his "friend" Dillon was chosen to be Dragon Eye apprentice and "Eon" was chosen to be the first Mirror Dragon eye in 500 years. So "Eon" try's to call his dragon but finds he cannot call it with out its name. So he goes on a journey to save the whole land after things get out of hand.
I loved how Goodman was able to keep the suspense up through out the whole book. I disliked how the Emperor dies so early in the book. This book is good for 7th grade and up. If you liked the Maze Runner than you will like this book.

The Death Cure

I recently finished a awesome book! "The Death Cure" by James Dashner was a great book to read. It is a fiction type of book. It has items involved that do not exist so far. I chose this book because it is the last book in the series that I read and I really liked!
Thomas, the main character, is trying to escape the captiveness that WICKED has on him. He takes a lot of steps that revolve around one main point. Thomas has time to realize that his main objective is that WICKED only used him to collect as much data as they can and find a cure that will help half of the world survive! The only problem is it is NOT how Thomas ever imagined it to be! There is one more final step toward the cure that WICKED has planned! Thomas will risk his life and only life to help! That is...if he actually agrees! Thomas, once again, has to face a lot of challenges that will determine his destiny. On the other side, WICKED has the challenges all planned and stays in the way of Thomas!
Two things that I liked about the book is that the problem is very clear and that the setting is very descriptive and easy to visualize. One thing I didn't like about this book is the ending! I would say people 10 or older should read this book! I would say the reading level would be 5/10. I would recommend it to all my friends and classmates! If you like books with thrilling adventures in them then you should read this book!

Glee: The Beginning

Glee: The Beginning by Sophia Lowell, is based off the TV show "Glee". I chose to read this book because I like Glee.
This book explains life before Glee became what it is now. There is still a Glee Club but it is much smaller and the teacher never shows up. Kurt convinces Rachel, the over-achiever, annoying kind of girl, to join Glee Club to make them sound better. Tina, the shy Goth girl, joins the decorating committee and is tricked by the Cheerios. This results in the Glee Clubs first performance being a total bust. Homecoming is just around the corner so kids are finding dates, getting new dresses, and shining their shoes. It's up to Rachel to put the puzzle back together.
I enjoyed reading this book because I like Glee and it was just a good book. I don't really have anything negative to say about it. I would recommend this book to "Gleeks". I would say that it is a reading level 6. (25 chapters, 216 pages)

The Looking Glass Wars

The book I read is called the Looking Glass Wars the author is Frank Beddor. The book is a re-telling of Alice in Wonderland. I chose this book because it was recommended to me.
The book is about Alyss Heart, heir to the Wonderland throne and how her muderous Aunt Redd forced her to leave Wonderland though The Pool of Tears and into Victorian London, alone and scared she befriends the aspiring author Lewis Carroll her surreal, violent, heartbreaking story only to have him publish it into a childrens book, Alice in Wonderland.
I liked the book because of the action and mystery that surrond it. The thing i didnt like about is that it was kinda slow in the beginning. The age group for this book is middle school. I would recommend this to a friend if the like books like the Hunger Games for the action and violence and the little bit of romance.

Soul Surfer

Soul Surfer is a good book to read. The book Soul Surfer is written by Benthany Hamilton. The book is mainly about the shark attack she expirenced. The reason i chose this book it's based on a true story and is very inspiring.

In the book Soul Surfer Benthaney wanted to go surfing one morning. But the waves werent the best, so she went with her best friend Alaina and Alaina's brother and father. So Bethany and Alaina went and caught some good waves and all of sudden the shark came a bit her arm. After that attack Bethany went out surfing with no left arm.

One thing about the book i liked was it was based on a true story and it was very inspiring. Also how she never gave up surfing after the attack. There is not really a age limit. I would recommand it to a friend.I think anyone who likes surfing, sharks and books based on a true story would like this book.

The Scorch Trials

I read a book called "The Scorch Trials" by James Dashner. I have to say that the genre is mostly fiction. It has a lot of parts where it is not possible to happen in real world with the technology we have right now. I chose this book because it was the next book in the series I was reading.
Thomas, the main character, thinks that after the maze there is no other challenge waiting for them to solve and help the WICKED. Later he realizes he is very wrong! The Glade was only the beginning of the whole mission that Thomas as put into. Once Thomas realizes what the trouble of the earth is he is sure to help and is forced too. The Flare, a disease from the sun, was a big problem in the whole book! To complete the mission he has to face many challenges and survive within two weeks. He actually finds out that he has the Flare and that makes him even more furious and determined that he will help. He has two weeks to get to a certain area. The Cranks stand in the way. They are very dangerous people who are insane because of what the disease did to them. To survive, Thomas has to deal with all those people and fight against them. At the end it is a whole different story.
Two things that I liked about the book is that it has many action in it and that it is very suspenseful. I loved this book! I would say people 10 or older should read this book. It is easy to understand! I would recommend it to a friend. The reading level should be 6/10. People who like to read should read this book because it is not too long and not to short. Also if you like to read series then you should read this book. I really enjoyed this book and I am really glad I read it.

The Bar Code Tattoo

The book that I read is called, The Bar Code Tattoo.
It was written by Suzanne Weyn. It is about a girl fighting against society to
stay pure and not get a government rigged tattoo. I chose this book because
Mrs. Henry said that it is really good. But other kids said it wasn’t but I
went with Mrs.H because she’s always right.
The main character in this story is a junior in high school named Kayla living
in the year 2025. Kayla is just a normal girl who just wants to fit in and
follows all the trends. Then a new trend comes out and it has all of your info
on It like your drivers liscenes, credit card and all the things you might need
throught life. Most people are getting it because it helps with a lot of things.
Most stores and places are starting to not use anything but bar code monitors but
you can only get it when you turn 17 though. So when Kayla turns 17 everyone
including her friend’s trie to talk her into getting one. However, something
just isn’t right about the tattoo and she doesn’t really want to get it. Then Kayla's
dad gets really depressed and a tragic accident happens to him. Kayla's mom
said it was the bar code that did it. She thinks that It changed him. Also ,a
lot of things are going wrong with a lot of other people's bar codes. However,
the government doesn't care and they make the tattoo a law anyways. So Kayla's
only choice is to join a resistence group and run away.
This book was ok. I liked all the action in the book. I also liked how the book
has a newspaper throughout the book and it has some newspaper articles to help
explain what has happened. I don't like that the important parts got rushed.
And I also didn’t really like the ending, It’s really weird and odd. But all in
all I liked the. I think that this book is good for anyone around the ages of
12-18. I also think that a lot of people will enjoy it.

Bat Boy

I read bat boy by mike lupica. its about a boy named Brian who is a bat boy for his hometown team.i chose this book because i like mike lupica's books.
There is no winning back some people though. Just ask Hank Bishop once the most popular player in baseball before he was banned for using steroids. Now he is making his comeback. Brian was is developing a friendship with a player who was banned for using steroids.
and is now tyring to redeem himself to get back to the top of the chain.
The book Bat Boy if someone who likes baseball and has a Passion for sports .The book wasn't hard to read at all i would recomened it for anyone who would.

I have read Dork Diaries by Rachel Renee Russell. This book is a fiction book. I have chosen this book because I have read the other Dork Diaries book and i could not stop reading the other book. That is why i chosen this book.
This book is about Nikki wanting Brandon but Mackenzie embarrasses Nikki, Wants Brandon, and alot more in this book so at the end Brandon likes Brandon and Brandon asks Nikki to sit with him at his table in lunch the next day.
One thing i liked about this book is how much Nikki talks about Brandon is the book. Second thing i liked about this book is how Nikki's friends, Chloe and Zoey, stick up for Nikki. One thing i didn't like is how much Mackenzie bullies Nikki.

Fire

I read a great book called Fire. Fire was written by Kristen Cashore. This book is romantic and action filled all in one. I chose to read this book because I had just finished Graceling and Fire was it's prequel.
In this book Fire just wanted for Archer to leave her alone and Brigan to like her and forgive her for all the bad things her father did. But Archer loves Fire and Fire loves Brigan so she refuses Archer and tries to get closer to Brigan.
I loved that this book had double genre's and that it was sooooo romantic. I did'nt like how this book was so slow for the first half. I would recomend this book to anyone who has a lot of patience. If you read and liked the book Graceling then you will love this book.

NARUTO

NARUTO vol.6 by: Masashi Kishimoto. The book is nonfiction and Naruto is trying to become a great ninja. I read this book because when the book ends in a really good part I don't want to stop reading the series.

Naruto wants to be this great ninja but people say he's a loser so he decided to join this ninja exam.

The book is really good but it's not what you would expect (in the good way). The reading level is7-10 and age group 13+. Anybody who reads shonen jump manga or graphic novels and a few of my friends I would recommend this to them.

Bleach

.The title of this book is Bleach. The author of this book is Tite Kubo. This book is a graphic novel. This is a book about a kid named Ichigo. He is 15, and has never been normal. Sence he was real little he was able to see spirts, and his father acts like an overgrown child, and his younger sisters pretty much run the house. One night when Ichigo was about to go to bed a sprit came into his room. Her name is Rukia. Rukia didnt think Ichigo could see her, when he could. Rukia isn't your average spirt though. She is called a Soul Reaper. She has the job of making sure that there are no Hallows or bad souls in the world of the living. Just when Ichigo finds Rukia in his room, a hallow breaks part of Ichigo's house. Rukia gave up some of her powers of a soul reaper to Ichigo beacuse she new she couldnt defeat this hallow, and now Ichigo is called a substatue soul reaper. He has to make sure that his town is safe of the hallows. WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT!! read the book to find out! What i liked about this book where all of the little details, in the words, and in the pictures as well. I also love theplot in this book. What i dont like about this book is it leaves you hanging wanting to know what happens next to Ichigo and Rukia. I would recomend this book to a 9 year old and up because some of the names are hard to understand. I would also defently recomede this book to a friend. If you love anime you would love this book!!

The Maze Runner

I recently finished a great book called "The Maze Runner" by James Dashner. This book is mostly fiction. I chose this book because it was recommended to me by many teachers.
The main character, Thomas, just arrived into a world of horror. The Glade, was a area where no one knew who they were and how they arrived there. Everything was going normal until Thomas arrived. Everyone somehow knew who he was, they also knew he was their chance to escape the maze and finally live normally. All the Gladers wanted to go back to the normal world compared to this world but they had no clue how to. After Thomas arrived, the next day a girl named Teresa arrived. To the legend she was the last Glader that they will ever receive so they knew they had to value her. After all the things that happened to them while living out there, they had never been more surprised than this!
Two things that I liked about this book is that it is very suspenseful and that it is very descriptive. Something that I didn't like is that it got confusing at some points. The book got more confusing as it went on, so i would recommend it to people that are 10 or older. I would recommend it to anyone who likes reading and to someone who likes suspenseful books. I would give this book a reading level of 8/10. They fought, they escaped, they survived, they have arrived to the next level!

The Sisters Club

"The Sisters Club", written by Megan McDonald is a fictional story. I chose to read this book because I read the second book in the series without reading the first one and this is the first one.
Three sisters, Alex, Stevie, and Joey Reel, have this club called the Sisters Club. They meet in Alex's room and play games, talk, and laugh. Alex is the oldest and the actress of the family. She is preparing for a new play, The Beauty and the Beast. Alex wants to get the role of Beauty and the boy she likes, Scott Howell, wants the part of the Beast. While auditioning, she makes a mistake, but manages to still get the role she wanted. When Scott comes over to rehearse, disaster strikes at the dinner table. Alex is MAD!! Opening night arrives and Alex breaks her foot so she can't perform the final act.
I enjoyed reading this 181 paged book. I thought it was funny at times and it gave good advice to girls. There wasn't anything I disliked about this book, other than the fact that some chapters were kind of long. I would recommend this book to GIRLS 10 and up. Remember to read the first book first though!! :)

The Last Lecture

I just finished reading the book The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch with Jeffery Zaslow. I picked this book because it looked like a good book and friends recommend it to me. I liked his book because it reminded me my grandpa.

This book was about a father, son, husband who has tumors on his liver and also has pancreatic cancer but is very optimistic about it. He is a professor, with only a few mouths left to live. Him and his family moved to Virginia to be close to his wifes family. His wife is Jai and he has three kids Dylan Chloe, and Logan. He was asked as soon as he moved to go to do a speech. He didn't know at first if he wanted to or not because he didn't want to take away precious family time that he can never get back. But Him and Jai talked and decided he would do it because it would be his last one and Jai decided to record it and show their kids when they get older. So they would have something to remember their dad. He picks the topic of his child hood and tells them all about it and him.

I would recommend this book to all my friends that like reading good books that are true stories and a quick read. I like this book because it reminded me of my grandpa how he was optimist about his cancer and knew he would die but didn't want to think of it that way. Another thing I liked was it was a good book that i enjoyed reading. there was nothing i disliked about this book.

Cassie Mohney

The Mouse and The Motorcycle

Ralph is mouse that lived in a hole in a hotel room wall. One day he leaves his hole in the wall seeking adventure. He finds a toy motorcycle. A boy named Keith finds him in the apartment and rescues him.

Ralph helps Keith with his fever and got and him an aspirin to help him fall asleep. Then he went back to his mouse hole at the apartment and told his friends and family about the great adventure he had.

I would reccomend this book to kids that want to read a book that revolves around kindness and hope. Also a little bit of humor. This book was 158 pages and has big font so it is a quick read. I found it was a good book to pass the time. I would rate a 6 out of 10.

Hannah Montana In the Loop

I read Hannah Montana In the Loop. By Suzanne Harper. And this book id fiction. I choose this book because I had this book in my room just sitting there and i decided to read it.
Hannah Montana In the Loop is about Hannah going to Austen Texas for a beauty pageant and a bull riding thing for her dad, Billy. Now Hannah found a friend during the practicing of the beauty pageant. Now the girl's dad is not on board with them being friends.
One thing i like about this book is her friends support Hannah all the way even in fights they still work things out. I really don't like anymore things and i don't not like any things about this book.
My book is called HAPPYFACE by: Stephen Ememond. this book is like diary of a wimpy kid . i chose this book because i read the summery on the back of the book and it sounded interesting and funny .
It was about this boy named ben. He is in 7th grade . And he only has 2 friends to support him in the whole school year. One day there was this new girl named jasmine came into the school she is a new student at the highschool. And she just moved her and ben has a crush on her but he doesnt know how to talk to girls. So his friend named mark helps ben try to talk to jasmine.
The 2 things i liked about this book was that ben every time he talked to jasmine he always itched his arm raw intill it bled. The other thing was that jasmine always laughed when he embaressed him self all the time in school.

The Maze Runner

The Maze Runner by James Dashner was an AMAZING book!!!! I chose to read this book because so many people recommended it to me. This was a action and mystery filled book.
In this book Thomas just wants to go home. But he is trapped is a giant maze with about 50 other boys until 1 girl shows up. So Thomas and his friends the Gladers make a plan to get out of the maze. Thomas uses the maps that were recorded for the past 2 years to create a code to escape. Then the Gladers fight there way through the Grievers to the "Griever hole".
This book is a MUST read. I loved that Thomas and Teresa Could communicate Telepathically. I also liked that Thomas went into the maze at night and came out alive. I didn't like how Teresa was in a coma for so long. This book is appropriate for ages 11 and up. If you read the Hunger games and liked them the you will Love this book. Just don't give up on the book by the first chapter.

Water for Elephants

The book i read was called "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen, it was 421 pages. I chose this book because I saw previews for the movie and wanted to read the book.

This book is about a guy named Jacob who was majoring as a vet but then both his parents died and he had nothing left. Then he ended up getting a job working at the circus being put in charge of caring for the circus managerie. In this book you see how a long time ago depending on where you stand working at the circus is how your treated. He meets an elephant named Rosie which he finds unable to train until her. And he meets Marlena whos married to August whos violence ways give everyone a reason to be cautious around him. And he ends up falling in love with Marlena.

One thing i didnt like about this book is how it switched points of view and sometimes it was confusing.

Soul Surfer

I recentley read the book Soul Surfer. The author of this book is Bethany Hamilton. This book is based on a true story of a girl who lost her arm in a shark attack.
Bethany Hamilton went surfing one day in the waters of Hawaii. She was with her friend Alana and 2 others. As they were laying on their boards, a shark came up and bit her left arm off. With great courage and determination, she learned how to surf again and became a champion once again!
Two things I liked about this book is that its about sufing! I love surfing! Also, it was a really inspiring book. How a girl who lost her arm actually had the courage to go back into the dangerous water again! The only two things I didnt like was that is was pretty sad when Bethany lost her arm. Also, I didnt like the fact that one of the girls in her competitions was really snotty to her, even after the attack! I think this book is appropriate for all groups and ages! :)

The Sea of Trolls

The Sea of Trolls, by Nancy Farmer.
A bard (wizard) shows up at a small farm town, in Angelo Saxon, England. After a year there, he decides to take Jack, a farmer's son, as his apprentice. Jack is learning fast, but not fast enough. Vikings, lead by a beserker, named Olaf-one-brow, takes Jack and his five year old sister, Lucy, as slaves. Lucy is given to the Vikings half troll queen, Frith, (half trolls are shape shifters). Jack accidentally does a spell to make Frith lose her hair, but Jack does not know how to put it back on.
Frith tortures Jack by saying that he is going to kill his sister Lucy, unless he finds a way to put her hair back. But, there is only one way to do that. Jack must find Mimir's Well. So Jack must go on a quest to find Mimir's Well, which can give you any knowledge you desire, but only if you make a great sacrifice...which you have to find in Jotunheim, the land of trolls.
Jack ventures into Jotunheim with the assistance of Olaf-One-Brow and a shield maiden, named Thorgil. As they try to find Mimir's Well, they run into a giant troll bear, which is five times the size of a normal bear. Olaf kills the bear, but not without sustaining mortal wounds. After Olaf kills the troll bear they are attacked by a dragon and taken back to her nest, where the baby dragons are to kill them. Thorgil stabs the baby dragons with her knife, and kills them, while the mother is hunting for food. While she is killing them, some of the dragon's blood goes into her mouth. Which means that she can talk to birds. They make their way to the Troll Queen's palace, where they are treated like royalty. The Norns, people who control destiny, send Jack and Thorgil to Mimir's Well, where they both drink. They come back to the Viking's land one day before the day that Frith was going to kill Lucy. Jack tells her to shave the godesses cats, then to take one third of the hair and to lay down in the moonlight with it around her, but she takes all of the hair and she becomes a scary monster. Then she gets chased by the shaved cats into a bog, where she drowns.

Diary of a Wimpy kid

I read Diary of a wimpy kid by Jeff Kinney I choose this book because a lot of my friends have read it and i needed something to read so i borrowed this book from someone and i also liked how the pages were set up in the book.

Greg an average middle school student wanted to become popular with his best friend Rowley because they were picked on by older kids everyday so they came up with a plan to become popular and only Rowley ends up being liked by people that normally wouldn't hang out with him so Greg is trying to save their friendship because Rowley now has an attitude that he is better than Greg .

What i liked about this book is that it was funny in some parts and i also liked the drawing that were on the side. I didn't really have a problem with anything in the book and i think 7 and up could read this book because the words are not hard and the pages are not long i think this book is a 9 out of 10 because some parts dragged on but overall i liked the book a lot !

NARUTO vol.5

NARUTO vol.5 by: Masashi Kishimoto. The book is nonfiction. It is about Naruto a boy still trying to be the greatest Ninja in his home town. I chose this book so I could continue the interesting series.
                                                                         small  SPOILER ALERT  below
Nobody likes Naruto( almost nobody ) and they thinks he's weak unless you saw vol.4 but nobody knew it was him but he still wants to be the greatest ninja in his home town. Now he is in an exam to be a greater ninja.

The book did get a little boring but it was a dumb ending and makes me want to just instantly grab the next series after I finished this one. Age appropriate for 13+. reading level 7-10. A few of my friends read these I would recommend it to people who read Shonen Jump and graphic novels.

The Dogs Of War

The second book i chose to read was called The Dogs Of War. By Lisa Rogak. This books topic was about military working dogs. That name says it all. I chose this book because I'm interested in the military, and I like dogs.
The prologue " Hunting Osama" was one of my favorite chapters. It was about a military working dog( MWD) named Cairo. Cairo was assigned a mission with the Seal Team 6. The Seal team that killed Osama. That chapter described the gear Cairo wore, the mood of him and his fellow human soldiers on the helicopter. Also included in this book are "profiles" of MWD's that serve or have served in the military. Some of those profiles are Cairo, Cali, Nemo, Lucky
and more. In chapters there are also subtopics that talk about different kinds of MWD's. But you will have to read the book to find out what kind of dogs they use for different jobs.
There are parts of this book I liked and didn't like about it. One thing I liked about it was that it was very informational. Another thing is that it had a lot of descriptions about the different breeds and there different jobs, along with how they helped in history. But I had some dislikes about it also. I didn't like all the quotes in it, I though there were too many. Another is that the chapters are real long. I think this book is appropriate for higher lever readers. I think people who like dogs and/or the military history would enjoy this book. Yes, I would also recommend this book to a friend.

why i fight

my book is called why i fight the author of my book is j.adams oaks he books topic is about a thirteen year old boy who lived on the sreets and ended up living with his uncle and meets his crazy grandma. i chose this book because the cover looked interestng and i thought it would be about a troubled kid and handles his problems by fighting people.
The book is about a kid who fought for himself on the sreets and was abonded by his parents and then getting found by an orphanage and his uncle fever took him in and they nent on a trip to vist his crazy grandma that doesnt remember him at all and he doesnt really remember his grandma or his uncle fevver and they spend time there for awhile so they bond and many times he oictures himsely running out the window and never believes that their his real family.
one thing i liked about the book is that the boy is a big strong kid who always manhandled things and stood up for himself and fights another thing is that he renites with his family and he ends up liking them and not suffering and gets into fishing with his uncle and bonds. the age group to read this book is about twelve to thirteenor fourteen.i definately would recomend this book to a friend. the kind of people who like this book is kind people.

Runner by Carl Deuker

The book I chose to read was The Runner by Carl Deuker. The books topic is about a boy who wants to make money to help him and his dad live on their old boat. I chose this book because I like the author he writes good books.

Chance Taylor wanted to help him and his dad so they weren't poor but it was hard because his dad drank too much so he had 2 jobs. The security guard wanted to help but Chance wasn't sure it was safe so he did it for the money. Chance also had a crush on a girl but you will need to read it to figure out who.

One reason why I liked this book was because the author writes interesting books. I also liked it because it kept me wanting more. One thing I didn't like was he chose to do something illegal. I also thought it was about sports like his other and it wasn't so it was still a little upsetting.

I would recommend it to friends that like books that are suspenseful. Anyone from 10-18 would like this book.
