The Help

The book I read is called "The Help". It was written by Kathryn Stockett. The genre of this book is historical fiction. "The Help" is mainly about 2 black maids, and a white lady, Skeeter, who want the world to know how maids live, working for white people. I chose this book because I heard it was a very good and interesting book.
Aibileen, a black maid, is raising her 17th white child in Jackson, Mississippi, 1962. Her friend Minny hasn't kept a job for very long because she can't seem to keep her mouth shut, while Aibileen seems to be doing well as a maid. A white lady named Skeeter has returned from college to find out that Constantine, the maid who raised her has disappeared. Skeeter loves to write and she wants to write a book interviewing maids about how it is to work for white people. Skeeter asks Aibileen and other maids to answer questions about their life. They are risking their lives to write this book. They face obstacles to do this but are determined to get their point across to the world...
Two things I liked about this book are how at some points it was interesting and had me wondering what would happen next. Also, it was funny sometimes. Two things I didn't like about the book are how sometimes it was hard to understand, and it got boring sometimes. I would recommend this book to my friends because it was very interesting and funny. Also, I would recommend this book to people who like comedy.
