The second book i chose to read was called The Dogs Of War. By Lisa Rogak. This books topic was about military working dogs. That name says it all. I chose this book because I'm interested in the military, and I like dogs.
The prologue " Hunting Osama" was one of my favorite chapters. It was about a military working dog( MWD) named Cairo. Cairo was assigned a mission with the Seal Team 6. The Seal team that killed Osama. That chapter described the gear Cairo wore, the mood of him and his fellow human soldiers on the helicopter. Also included in this book are "profiles" of MWD's that serve or have served in the military. Some of those profiles are Cairo, Cali, Nemo, Lucky and more. In chapters there are also subtopics that talk about different kinds of MWD's. But you will have to read the book to find out what kind of dogs they use for different jobs.
There are parts of this book I liked and didn't like about it. One thing I liked about it was that it was very informational. Another thing is that it had a lot of descriptions about the different breeds and there different jobs, along with how they helped in history. But I had some dislikes about it also. I didn't like all the quotes in it, I though there were too many. Another is that the chapters are real long. I think this book is appropriate for higher lever readers. I think people who like dogs and/or the military history would enjoy this book. Yes, I would also recommend this book to a friend.
