Prom

Prom by Laurie Halse Anderson is about a highschool prom that almost gets cancelled because a math teacher stole the money for prom.

In the beginning a girl named Ashley Hannigan doesn't see herself at prom. She's a normal kid, a kid that gets by. She would have dropped out when she was sixteen, but her fifth grade teacher knew she had a class of normal kids and told them that they had to graduate and get a diploma and a GED didn't count. Ashley was graduating and then leaving her parents house to live with her drop out boyfriend in their own appartment. She was ready for to school to be over and she was going to get out without having to do much the rest of the year. Until.....

Her friend who was planning the whole prom was devistated when everyone found out the math teacher stole all the money for prom. Ashley couldn't just sit there and do nothing. She had to help.

Two things I liked about this book were the way Ashley cared to help her friend and the way the book ends. Two things I didn't like were the math teacher and Ashley can't go to prom, even though she planned the whole thing, because she didn't make up all of her detentions. I would recommmend this book to others.
