The Cage

"The Cage" by Ruth Minsky Sender is a story about a girl living through the Holocaust. Young Rifkele is only 13 when the Germans start capturing Jews and sending them to the Ghetto and then death camps. I would recommend the book to those who like reading of expierences in rough times. I liked the book and thought i could see through Rifkele's eyes.
Rifkele is about 13 when the Holocaust begins. She is the 4th child out of 7 and cares for her 3 younger brothers after her mother is taken away. She then becomes the only 16 year old to be the mother of 3 boys. She loses her brothers in the never ending travel to another camp and is left with two friends.
Saying I liked a book all about the horror of the nazis and people dying would be rough. But the way Rifkele survives through out the Holocaust can give you hope. She gave hope to her friends even in the worst of times. Also how she would chea death, because she was everyones hope.
I didn't dislike anything about the book and it was amazing knowing even in the worst time you could make the best of it.
