Thirteen Reasons Why

Thirteen Reasons Why is a suspenseful, thrilling book about a boy who finds a box of cassette tapes by a girl who committed suicide weeks before. He discovers that the tapes are about why she committed suicide in the first place. This book is one of those books that you will not be able to put down and will be able to read in one sitting. I came across this book when I saw it at Wal-Mart and decided to give a chance since the cover looked interesting.

It was unusual that one day, Clay Jensen found a box on his porch with no return address. In the box, there was a map and cassette tapes with blue numbers on them. He played the first cassette tape and recognized the voice of Hannah Baker, his crush that committed suicide two weeks before the tapes. As he listens to the tapes and "follows" along Hannah's journey and story around town, he discovers things that he never wanted to know in the first place. He never found out something about himself that later makes him regret listening to the tapes.

One of the things I love about this book is that it never fails to leave you hanging and it keeps you wanting to read more and more. It also never ceases to surprise you at every page! However, one of the things I didn't like it about is that there were some characters in the book that I felt didn't belong in the book. If I told you who it was, it probably wouldn't make sense. Other than that, the book was amazing! I enjoyed reading it. I recommend it to anyone who loves a good suspense/thriller with a hint of romance and teen troubles read. However, there are some things in there that can make people uncomfortable, so if you have a hard time dealing with that, I suggest not reading the book.
