Wintergirls

Recently I read a book called Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson.  She is one of my favorite authors and so I had to read this book.
This book is mainly about a girl named Lia who hbas just lost her best friend Cassie. Lia has a problem though.  Back in middle school Cassie and Lia made a pact to be the skinniest girls in school together.  That is how Cassie died but Lia doesnt care she is still going down the path of anorexia.  She does not binge and purge but she doesnt eat at all.  At one point she even starts to stop drinking everything.  She has to trick her step mother into thinking she is stioll eating and gaining weight.  She has to get on a scale everyday and weight herself.  She has to try and weigh herself down with her robe and show she gained weight.
In the middle of the book she meets a guy who has witnessed Cassies death.  Cassie was calling her all night before she died.  Cassie is now haunting Lia.  Lia then has to go to her moms house over Christmas vacation so her mom knows she eats.  She then learns how Cassie died bacuase her mother performed the autopsy.  Casie was drunk and she decided to purge (throw up everything she ate that day) and the lining of her auspohagous broke and she died.  Lia is shocked and she wants to dies.
In the end she almost dies but everyone revives her and she gets on the right track.  Three things I liked about this book was it was touching and it was scary.  I also liked that it had gohsts in it.  I did not dislike anything about this book.  I think the reading level forf this book would be ages 12+.  I would reccomend this book to anyone who llikes anything about gohsts or anorexia. 0:)
