Shiver

The book I read is Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. It is about a seventeen year old girl who was attacked by a pack of werewolves six years ago. She should have shifted, but she didn't. WHY? I chose this book because the author's summary seemed interesting.
Grace Brisbane is a seventeen year old girl. Can't say she's a normal seventeen year old girl because six years ago she was attacked by a pack of werewolves. She was supposed to shift but didn't because of her father's forgetful mind. If I were her I would be glad. She isn't. She wants to know more about the wolf with the bright yellow eyes that stands at the edge of her woods. She has no clue, but his name is Sam. Samuel Roth. He works at a bookstore in Duluth during the warm days of summer and during the winter he is nothing but the wolf that watches Grace.Grace's parents are never home. She has two bestfriends, Rachel and Oliva A.K.A Olive. Olive is interested in the wolves as much as Grace but Rachel doesn't see the point.
One day while Grace and Rachel were sitting in class, a police officer, Officer Koenig, came to ask questions about the death of a boy named Jack Culpeper. Jack's father was so outraged because that was the second wolf attack, that he gathered a hunting team to hunt the wolves. Nobody really knew, and Grace wouldn't have either if her car didn't break down next to the woods. Officer Koenig was there too. He offered to give her a ride home but once she realized what was happening she told Officer Koenig that her friend was in the woods. It was taking to long to contact the hunting team, so Grace ran into the woods to stop them herself. As soon as she found someone and told him about her friend, Officer Koenig came running up next to them. He walked her through the woods to her backyard. When she got to the porch, the light was on and her heart dropped to her knees. A boy was laying in the light curled up in a fetal position with blood running from a bullet wound in his neck....
Two things I liked about the book were the relationship between Sam and Grace and the way they instantly feel safe with each other. Two things I didn't like about the book were how Sam and Grace meet and Sam's previous life before his parents were put in jail and he was taken in by Beck. This book is for kids twelve and older. I would recommend this book to people who like romances.
