Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson

I read the book 'Speak' by Laurie Halse Anderson. The book is a well discripted quick read. The book has 198 pages. The book is kinda sad. And really annoying. It's realistic fiction, and an overall pleasing book.
It all starts, at an end of the summer party. Melinda Sordino and her best friend, Rachel go. Bad stuff happens, and the cops are called. In the story, Melinda doesn't tell you what exactly happened, but... Anyways, when Melinda calls the cops, everyone runs away. Some people get arrested. This event makes Mel the loser. No one talks to her, not even her 'friends'. Then a new girl named Heather from Ohio comes. Heather is a high spirited person. She ends up dumping Mel for the goody goodys. Her friends, Rachel, ends up hanging with the foriegners. Ivy, sames with the artsy people. Nicole, stays with the jocks, and Jessica moves away.
The book Speak, was really interesting. At first the only reason i kept reading was because i wanted to know what happened at the party. But in the end, i read it because it was a very defined book. I would reccomend this to people who have been shunned by their 'friends'. I would rate this 5/5. I read this book because, the librarian said it was awesome. It was.
