Soldier Boys

The book soldier boys by Dean Hughes is an interesting book about the life of an American soldier Spencer Morgan and A German soldier Dieter Hedrick and their lives through World War II. It is a very good book because it describes the lives of an American and German soldier so that you can see how similar they really are and how they are both just kids fighting for their country.

In the book Soldier Boys it talks about the life of Spencer Morgan. He is a short person who wants to fight for his country after he hears about the bombing of pearl harbor over the radio. He joins the air force and passes training camp. When he is sent into war he doesn't even know what to expect. The loudness of all of the explosions frightens him. They slowly work their way inward and on one day he comes face to face with a German soldier. The book also talks about the life of Dieter Hedrick A very young and ruthless soldier. At the age of fifteen he is the leader of a huge part in The Hitler Youth. When he becomes able to fight with soldiers he is very excited. But who he is partnered up with is not a fan of Hitler. The mans name is Schafer and he knew a person who told him what they did to Jews and how rotten they treated people. He talks about it to dieter but he refuses to listen. As they move forward dieter will come face to face with in American Soldier.

One thing that I did not like about the book is that at the end it does not make everything so clear and they could have explained some things to make it better. But i loved how they showed that there is two sides to every story and how interesting it was.
