The book I read was The Help by Kathryn Stockett. This book is told from the point of view from two black maids and one white girl. It takes place in Mississippi, 1962. It shows the hardship of life being african american and a maid, and Skeeter helps them tell the world about it. I chose this book because when I read an excerpt it looked very interesting.
In this book there are two maids that tell you their life and how they are treated. Aibileen is raising her seventeenth white baby and loves her to death. Minny, her best friend, is a stubborn woman that doesn't take anything from anyone. Skeeter is a white woman raised by a black maid and begins to get curious on her where Constantine had disappeared too. No one will tell her but she believes other maids will know...
Two things I liked about this book would be how in detail the women express their feelings. They are completely open-minded with what they think, about the woman they work for or how they believe in things. I also liked how emotional it was. That made the book so much more interesting. One thing I didn't like was how sometimes it was slow in getting to the point and it was boring. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes romantic or emotional stories. Or even wanting to know the truth behind the way things are.
