Recently I read a book called One of Those Hideous Books Where The Mother Dies by Sonya Sones. I absolitutely love this book and could not put it down.
It was mainly about a girl whose name was Ruby and her mother dying and having to transition so a new life with a movie star dad. After her mother dies she has to move to her fathers house of which she has never known because he left when she was a baby. So she reluctantly moves from Boston to Los Angelos. She had to leave behind her wonderful boyfriend and her best friend.
The first time she saw her dad she was very cold and distsant. She kind of acted as if she was very shy. He tries to warm up to her and make up for all the years he missed of her life but she does not accept it.
On her first day at her new school she meets a girl who she wuickly becomes very close with but she ends up ditching her. Everyday her dad insists on driving her to school even though she wanted to walk. Her dads manager finally convinces him to let her walk to school. Ruby became very close with him and thought that he was gay.
She turned out being right in the end her dad admits to her that he is his managers partner. Ruby was very suprised and after that she got a lot closer to her dad. From that point on they had a happy life.
Two things about this book that I liked was that it deals with everyday situations for teenagers. Another thing I liked was it was a quick read. Two things i did not like is it was not very graphic. Last another thing I diddnt like was that it stayed on one topic for a small amount of time.
This i would reccomend to all ages soecifically to feamles with no mthers. It can be comforting. The reading level would be a 6 for me. I would reccomend this to anyone thata likes books about real life problems.
