The Scorch Trials
I read a great book called The Scorch Trials. James Dashner, who wrote the book, is a great author!!! This book was full of adventure at every corner. I chose this book because I had just finished the Maze Runner, the first book in the series. The Maze Runner left me hanging on a cliff with suspense for what would happen to Thomas, Teresa, and the Gladers next.
The main character Thomas wanted to get himself, Teresa, and the Gladers safely out of the "Scorch" (the most burned out section of the world). This sounds easy but many problems stand in his way. To get through the "Scorch" and to the safe haven the Gladers (Thomas included) have to fight through "Cranks", people that were covered in festering wounds often inflicted by other "Cranks". The "Cranks" were infected by the Flare, an infectious disease, and driven to insanity (often eating other humans). Thomas and the Gladers also have to face WICKED the organization that has put them through these trials. So against all odds the Gladers and Thomas fight their way through the Scorch all the way to the end.
I loved the way James Dashner portrayed the characters and how he used a lot of suspense to keep the story going. I didn't like how we, the readers did not hear much about group B, the girls. This book is appropriate for ages 12 and up. I would recommend this book to anyone who has read the Hunger Games and liked them, or if you like action novels filled with mystery and suspense.
