Story of a Girl
Story of a Girl by Sara Zarr is a great book! It is about a girl who has trouble with school and her family. I chose this book because it was recommended by the librarian. It is very alike with another book I read called Speak. It is a book a girl would enjoy.
This is a book about a girl named Deanna Lambert that almost gets pregnant in her teenage years. She was thirteen when that happened. Now she is grown up and realizes that she made a huge mistake in that! It shows girls that peer pressure affects you in life!! BIG TIME!!!! All the mistakes you make will affect your future! The boys name was Tommy Webber. It affected her family life too! Her dad found Deanna and Tommy in the back of Tommy's truck doing something that made him realize that her life will not succeed the way he wants it to. It's a good thing that Deanna did not get pregnant because it would have changed her life FOREVER!!! Tommy made it all into a joke that everyone teased her for. She always wanted her life to be normal and she wished she could take that moment back like it never happened! Deanna's dad HATES her now! She also has a older brother that had a story very similar to hers.
Two things that I like about the book is that it relates to a lot of teenage girls lives that do not even realize that is how their life might end up. Also that it is very interesting how she relates to her brother even though he is way much older then her. The thing i did not like about the book is that at some points it gets confusing. Also it is hard to start reading it because it is kinda boring in the beginning of the book. I would recommend it to mostly girls that like to read. Also a reading level of 5/10. If you like books about other girl's lives and and how peer pressure affected them then pick this book up next time!!! You will LOVE it.
