Copper Sun

I recently finished a great book called "Copper Sun" by Sharon Draper. It is more of a realistic fiction book. I chose this book because it was recommended to me by a student that likes to read.
Amari, the main character, is living a great happy life until the next day arrives. The next day there is strange visitors in the village but their village is very generous and greets visitors. These kind of visitors don't want to be greeted! They are kidnappers. Amari is kidnapped along with some other people from the village. Everyone else is killed. Amari's whole family is killed. Amari is sold to a high bidder and is bought as a gift for a owner's son. Amari has to go through rape, suffering, beating, and suffocating, as well as much other. Only one thing is left that is her own-hope. Welcome to the world of slavery, Amari! Amari is a African-American that has only one wish after getting kidnapped...getting set free or running away!
Two things that I liked about this book is that it is realistic and that it is very detailed. Age group that it is appropriate for is 11+. Reading level would be 5/10. This book is mostly about a story of a girl who faces slavery. So if you like those kind of books then read this one! I would recommend it to a friend.
